Itinerary

  • Day 1
    Arrival in Anchorage
You'll be picked up at the airport and dropped off at the hotel before our group convenes for a welcome dinner at an Anchorage restaurant. Please arrive no later than 4 pm at Anchorage airport.

The next morning we'll briefly tour the Anchorage area, looking for wildlife, enjoying scenic viewpoints, and learning about the city's history and culture before driving Valdez. On the way to Valdez, we'll stop at scenic Thompson Pass, getting as close as possible to Worthington Glacier. We'll also stop for photos at Bridal Veil Falls Trail.
  • Day 2-3
Kayaking, Glaciers, and more in Valdez
Valdez's spectacular location is second to none. This adventure tourism hub is situated under the snowy Chugach Mountains on Prince William Sound. After exploring the scenic walks in town, we'll set out for Columbia Glacier by boat. Once there, we'll begin our sea-kayaking excursion to get up close to the glacier. We'll see birds and other marine life before having a picnic onshore. Before leaving Valdez, we'll stop by the Salmon Hatchery to learn all about this iconic Alaskan fish's life-cycle and its importance to the local economy.
  • Day 4-8
Yoga and Meditation Retreat at Sheep Mountain Lodge
We'll spend mornings on our yoga and meditation practice with Johanna.

Each afternoon we'll have an outing to a favorite local hiking trail where we'll get energized while reaching scenic vantage points. We'll learn about Alaskan nature from our guide, Stephen. Enjoy some very Alaskan scenes: blue glacial lakes, Birch and Aspen groves, snow-capped peaks, majestic rivers through deep-cut glacial valleys, and enormous glaciers. We'll have lunch (not included) at a local cafe during our daily outing.

Some places we'll visit include Independence Historic Mine at Hatcher Pass, The Musk Ox Farm, and Lion's Head Trail.

Evenings will be spent back at our lodge enjoying dinner and an evening session with Johanna.

On the final morning, July 1st, we'll drive back to Anchorage. Flights should depart anytime after 1 pm.
