Expect lots of natural beauty, Buddhist traditions, and perpetually adorable giant pandas. On this adventure, we’ll be heading off the beaten track, up onto the Tibetan Plateau. Here Tibetan traditions stay alive, even more so than in actual Tibet. This is an unforgettable trip to villages and monasteries, over a landscape of rugged, snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes, rivers, grasslands, and forests. Be welcomed by people who don’t often interact with foreigners.
Western Sichuan Province of China encompasses the Eastern region of the Tibetan Plateau historically known as the kingdom of Kham. It is still an important center for the recent resurgence of Tibetan religion and culture, as well as being home to other significant ethnic minorities like the Qiang and Yi. This expedition will take you through important historical places and noteworthy cultural sites in a landscape of rugged, snow-capped mountains, glacial lakes, rivers, grasslands and forests. While traveling, interact with local people and make new friends who share their culture and indigenous knowledge with you.
The accommodation will be good standard, clean and comfortable hotels and guesthouses.
We use a private transportation (van) for this trip.
